It all began with a suspicion.

For years, Andrea felt that something about her story didn't quite add up. Like many people in Chile, she grew up with doubts about her origins, but without clear certainties that would allow her to move forward.

Until she decided to look for answers.

A Difficult Truth to Face

Over time, she managed to confirm something that would change her life:

👉 she had been adopted irregularly.

Unfortunately, these kinds of situations are not isolated. For decades, many people in Chile and other countries were separated from their biological families without clear information or complete records.

Faced with this scenario, the question was inevitable:

How to find her real family without concrete information?

The First Attempt: A DNA Test

Like many people today, she decided to start with a test on MyHeritage.

The results were interesting, but not conclusive.

In her case:

  • only distant matches appeared

  • distant cousins, like fourth cousins

  • without direct connections that would allow her to identify her family

👉 A very common scenario.

DNA provides clues, but not always immediate answers.

The challenge: interpreting DNA

This is where many searches stop. Having DNA results is not the same as:

  • knowing how to interpret them

  • connecting matches

  • reconstructing a family tree

👉 Without this work, the information remains incomplete.

The process: connecting the pieces

Based on the DNA results and the available information, at DNA and Genealogy we began a research process that combined:

  1. analysis of genetic matches

  2. construction of family trees

  3. cross-referencing documentary data

  4. identification of family patterns

  5. contact with DNA matches that allowed us to build a tree.

This type of work allows us to transform distant matches into concrete clues.

The result: finding her biological family

In just two months, the story changed completely.

Andrea achieved:

  • identifying her biological family

  • meeting her siblings and both parents

  • connecting with her grandparents

  • reconstructing a fundamental part of her history

👉 What seemed impossible became real.

More than a search: reconstructing identity

These kinds of processes don't just provide names or connections.

They also allow for something much deeper:

  1. answering questions left unanswered for years

  2. knowing your roots

  3. reconstructing your personal identity

Every story is different, but they all have something in common:

👉 the emotional impact of finding answers.

🎬 Her story, in her own words

Andrea shared her experience in this video, where she recounts how she went through the entire process:

Is it possible to find your biological family with DNA?

The answer is: yes, but it's not always immediate.

Cases like Andrea's show that:

  • even with distant matches,

  • with the right methodology

  • and professional analysis,

it's possible to make significant progress in a short time.

Your story may also have answers.

Many people believe that if they don't have clear information, it's not worth trying. But experience proves otherwise. Sometimes, a distant match can be the beginning of everything.
